
Walton Elementary/Middle School (WEMS) is located in rural Walton, West Virginia, in south/central Roane County. Nestled in the Poca River Valley, WEMS has a staff of 28 professional personnel, 11 service personnel, and 365 students. Originally a six-room school for grades 1-6 when first built in 1966, expanding to a K-6 school more than twice the original size complete with a new multipurpose room/cafeteria in 1980, WEMS now houses pre-school through 8th grade with the addition of the new middle school complex in 1998. Complete with a new gymnasium, state-of-the-art computer labs, a Technology-Education lab, and science lab, WEMS is an exciting place to learn.
