ANNOUNCEMENT: For those teachers who are working with students who receive Alternate Assessment, the deadline for the first collection is slowly approaching. Remember to have you immediate supervisor sign the form to document your work. The data folios will be required as a part of check-out at the end of the year.
PRESCHOOL: The Roane County School system offers free preschool programs for three and four year old children. The programs include home or school-based services to prepare children for school. It is possible that your child may qualify to participate. In order to determine eligibility, we need to do an assessment with your child. This free assessment consists of a play session with your child during which we try to have them demonstrate various developmental skills. We will also conduct an interview with you to assess your child's social and adaptive (self-help) skills. The assessment can be done in your home or at the preschool office at your convenience. For an appointment, please call at 926-6440 during school hours.
Each spring the preschool program in conjunction with other community agencies offers free developmental and health screenings at local community centers. Watch for newspaper and radio announcements of screenings.
