Teacher Modeling/Demonstration/CFU - Teacher will go over work assigned from the class before and answer any questions students may pose. - Teacher will show how to display data in such a way to make determining facts about it simpler. - Teacher will discuss a line plot and how to determine frequency. - Teacher will discuss stem and leaf plot and its uses as well as a back to back stem and leaf plot. - Teacher will discuss how to determine central tendency and which methods are best for which situations. (Mean, Median, Mode) - Teacher will invite student discuss and ask questions to CFU.
Practice/CFU - Students will group and be given various sets of data. - Each group can choose to analyze the data whichever way they like but they must answer a few questions about it including which measure of central tendency they would use and why it fits. - Teacher will walk around and observe groups to CFU.
Closure/Assessment/CFU - Students will complete part 2-5 in their practice workbooks. - Students will be given class time to complete the work but any unfinished work is homework. - Teacher will observe progress and assist students to CFU.
