Pole vaulters Sam Ashley and Ashli Knotts won titles and Jessica Roberts placed in three distance events to highlight Roane County’s showing in the Gazette Relays Friday and Saturday at Laidley Field in Charleston.
Ashley cleared 11 feet, 6 inches to place first among Class AA boys while Knotts soared 8-6 to win the AA girls crown. Roberts was fourth in both the 800- and 3200-meter events and scored a fifth in the 1600.
The individual efforts helped Roane’s girls to a sixth-place finish while the Raider boys came in 13th. Winfield won both the AA boys and girls competitions.
