The Director of Special Education oversees services of students with disabilities and assures RCS meets all compliance standards set forth in State and Federal policies. Other duties include working with the RCS Preschool program, coordinating Homebound instruction, managing 504 plans, and providing guidance on SPL, Support for Personalized Learning.

Melissa has worked for Roane County Schools for 14 years. Ten of those years as an educator at both the high school and elementary level and four years as an administrator. She has a BA in Elementary Education with specializations in Special Education and Early Childhood Education. She also has a MA in Special Education and an administrative certification.
